Our Beliefs

We believe that living in response to the sacrificial death of Jesus, devotion to scripture, and obedience to the direction of the Spirit of God will lead believers to be fully available to God to accomplish through them His purposes in their communities and world.

The Bible

We believe it is God-inspired Truth written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit of God. We believe the Bible is reliable and is to be our guide for faith and life.

The Future

We believe that humans are created as eternal beings and that God has a plan for our future beyond this world as we know it, including:
  • Jesus’ return to earth to gather His Church.
  • Hell is created for the devil and demons, and they will be eternally sentenced there at the end of time.
  • People who accept forgiveness and salvation, the gift of God, will live eternally in His presence and unending relationship with Him. To be eternally in union with God is eternal life.
  • People who refuse salvation in this life will be eternally separated from God. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
  • The eternal reign of Jesus Christ will be a reality in a New Heaven and a New Earth.

Trinity

We believe in one God existing in three distinct persons: Creator (Father), Savior (Son), and Holy Spirit. They are all equal and are one God.

JESUS: We believe that the historical Jesus of Nazareth is the only Son of God, is co-equal with God, was conceived of the Holy Ghost, and was born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that Jesus lived a sinless human life, was crucified as the ultimate and perfected sacrifice, was buried, and was raised from the dead, demonstrating His authority and power over sin and death. We believe that He ascended to heaven and is with the Father today interceding on behalf of all men and women, and will return to Earth and eternally reign as Sovereign Lord over all.

HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Holy Spirit of God is present and active in the world, making men aware of their disobedience and sin. The Holy Spirit resides within believers who receive salvation, provides power to resist sin and understand Truth, and provides guidance in daily decisions. We believe in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that gives supernatural abilities and spiritual manifestations of His power as evidence of His activity. This enables believers to be a witness of God's grace to the world and minister in situations through means beyond their own knowledge, experience, or human reason.

Sacraments

We believe in participating in Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, as an act of remembrance and faith in the forgiving and healing of our lives through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God to humanity through His Son’s death and resurrection, and not attainable by our own good works or activity. Salvation is a restored right relationship with God. The fulfillment of the purposes of God for creation and humanity is possible only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. A restored relationship with God is gained through believing in the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and in His claim to be the Son of God. Salvation includes the forgiveness of sin and the power to resist sin. The inward evidence of salvation is assurance of our acceptance by God. The outward evidence is a life of purity and service. Eternal life begins the moment someone receives God’s gift of salvation by faith.

Baptism

We believe in the act of baptism by immersion in water, signifying immersion by faith into the claims, teachings, and purposes of Christ. Baptism identifies us with Christ's death and resurrection through our rising to new life and our union with the Body of Christ (also known as the Church).

Humanity

We believe that humans were created in the image of God to be like Him in character, but that through Adam, they inherited a disobedient nature towards God that separates us from relationship with Him. Man’s attitude and actions of disobedience are referred to as sin. Sin results in our living outside the purposes of God for creation, humanity, and our personal lives.
MORAL PURITY: We believe that moral purity and goodness are to be the standards of living for all believers and followers of Christ.
